No central alarm panel needed
RF range 150 metres (minimum) in free space and up to 30 metres in buildings. Larger buildings can easily be covered, as the units can act as repeaters (daisy-chaining)
A maximum of 12 units can be interlinked
Digitally coded to avoid interference with neighbouring systems
Mains powered Ei Electronics smoke and heat alarms require a 230V AC power supply and up to 12 alarms can be hardwire interlinked in one system.
To obtain a mains power supply, each alarm can be connected to the nearest lighting circuit using 2 core and earth cable with a separate, dedicated interlink cable connecting alarms where applicable. However, if possible it is recommended that any alarms connected via interlink cable are all powered from a dedicated circuit from the distribution board using 3 core and earth cable for safety during maintenance, as the interlink cable will carry power from live alarms on other power circuits. Please see the diagram below:-
Q. Do the Ei3100RF alarms require anything other than fixing to the ceiling to install them?
A.
No, with this series of radio interlinked alarms there is nothing other than pressing the house code button required to install them.
Q. If the radio interlinking signal on one unit fails will the units still work as stand alone units.
A.
Yes, should the radio interlinking signal fail the units will continue to sound independently should they detect a fire.
Q. Can a wireless router interfere with the radio interlinked alarms?
A.
A wireless router is very unlikely to interfere with the signal of your radio interlinked alarms, as the RF signal of the smoke alarms is digitally coded.
Q. Do the radio interlinked units give out a constant signal all the time and does this decrease the battery life more than a non-interlinked alarm?
A.
Yes, radio interlinked alarms are periodically sending and receiving signals from other units in the network and therefore the life of the battery is reduced. Units with alkaline batteries should have the batteries are changed annually [unless they are fitted with a sealed 10 year battery as eg in the Ei600RF series].
Q. Do I need to take out all the batteries in my radio-interlinked alarms before adding a new alarm into the system?
A.
No, you do not need to remove all the batteries. Just simply press the house code button on all the units. Please ensure that the batteries have full power as this could render the house code process incomplete.

Works fine, but secure syncing with other units tricky to verify.
Works fine, but the yellow LED that flashes to confirm radio sync is too quick, and with 12 units connected, it's almost impossible to confirm you are secure with the other alarms - although this is just a security gizmo - all alarms will sound if in radio range of each other. Slow down the flash rate please EI, with a long pause between the count. Better still, a bi-colour LED to indicate the count start ...
