The wall mounted switch unit can locate the initial source of an alarm, silence any false alarms and test all the alarms in the system. The control unit is mains powered and interlinks via hardwire connection with the majority of Ei Electronics and Aico products, including carbon monoxide alarms. These switches are highly recommended for systems with a mixture of smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide alarms so that occupants can identify the source of the alarm and take the appropriate action depending on the type of emergency.
- 230V mains powered unit
- For use with the majority of Ei Electronics and Aico hardwire products
- Compatible with carbon monoxide alarms and mixed systems
- Easy installation with 3 core cable: live, neutral and interlink/control
- The locate option silences all the alarms except the initial activating alarm
- The test option will activate all the alarms
- The hush option will silence any false alarm
- Auto-reset within 10 minutes for locate and hush
- Also works with all of the new Ei3000 series of mains powered alarms
The table below shows all the units that can interlink with the EI1529RC.

Wiring Explained
Mains powered Ei Electronics smoke and heat alarms require a 230V AC power supply and up to 12 alarms can be hardwire interlinked in one system.
To obtain a mains power supply, each alarm can be connected to the nearest lighting circuit using 2 core and earth cable with a separate, dedicated interlink cable connecting all alarms. However, if possible it is recommended that the alarms are all powered from a dedicated circuit from the distribution board using 3 core and earth cable for safety during maintenance, as the interlink cable will carry power from live alarms on other power circuits. Please see the diagram below:-
Q. Can I add a CO detector to a smoke alarm system with Ei160 alarms?
A. Yes, even though the Ei160 series has been discontinued, the new Ei3000 series of alarms are compatible with any remaining 160s you still have. This includes the Ei3018 carbon monoxide alarm. We also recommend that you install a Ei1529RC locator switch as well which will allow you to find out whether an alarm is caused by CO gas or a fire.
Q. What is the difference between the Ei411H and the Ei1529RC test, silence and location switches?
A. The Ei1529RC is mains powered and wired into a network of mains powered smoke alarms, whilst the Ei411H has a long life 10 year battery and no wires. It is radio-interlinked with other Rf smoke alarms of the Ei family.
Q. I want to interlink my Ei13016 smoke alarms with the Ei1529RC. Do I need a spacial base (Ei128R) or is it possible to do this with the standard base the alarms come with? Also, what would we need to add the SAB300C beacon to the system?
A. The Ei3000 series of detectors can hard wire interconnect with the Ei1529RC switch without the need for the Ei128R relay base. You would however require the Ei128R relay base to connect the detectors to the SAB300C beacon.
