Is the Doormouse unit powered by batteries?

No, the Geofire Doormouse Wall Mounted Electromagnetic Fire Door Holders are designed to be connected and powered by your fire alarm panel. This means that they are not powered by batteries. This is a key safety feature of the device, to ensure that the door releases even the event of power failure.

Can the 230VAC Doormouse door retainer be connected directly to a mains operated smoke alarm or is a panel alarm required?

Yes, the Geofire Doormouse Wall Mounted Fire Door Holder can be directly wired to a mains powered alarm. In order to so, the device can be linked to the Ei3000 series of alarms with the Ei128R relay base unit and this will make the connection from the alarm series to the holder.
