The Freedor SmartSound is a wireless, battery powered free-swing fire door closer capable of operating up to EN Power Size 3 (950mm wide and 60kg in weight). Free-swing functionality allows the Freedor SmartSound to take all the weight off the fire door, allowing it to be opened effortlessly and even left open at any angle so that occupants can move freely throughout the premises.
Featuring an impressive 3 year battery life, the Freedor SmartSound doesn't need wiring into mains power or your fire alarm panel as its acoustic sensor is constantly listening for the sound of a fire alarm to activate the closing force.
The Freedor SmartSound is a battery powered device with a 3 year life, so you don't have to worry about access to power circuits or the disruption of cabling works around doorways.
Freedor SmartSound is a "Standard" category device under BS 7273-4 with testing and certification to BS EN 1154 and 1155. Quality and performance are guaranteed.
The Freedor SmartSound will operate doors up to 60kg in weight and 950mm wide, classed as EN Power Size 3, and also features adjustable closing speed.
The Freedor SmartSound features an integrated acoustic sensor to listen for the sound of the fire alarm, so no wiring or direct connection is needed for it to work.
Freedor helps people maintain independence by keeping heavy fire doors open throughout the premises, ideal for patients in care homes and hospitals as well as young children in schools.
Wedging open a fire door is illegal and aids the spread of fire. Freedor SmartSound has been designed, tested, and certified to release during a fire alarm or fault, making it both safe & legal.
Designed to avoid false activations which disrupt free movement around the building & impair the independence of residents in care facilities, SmartSound Technology will listen for the specific sound of a fire alarm – not just loud noises in the environment. This technology also knows to ignore specific sound patterns to reduce false releases even further, ensuring heavy fire doors are only closed when they actually need to be.
Free-Swing and Hold Open functionality will disengage the closing force, making heavy fire doors easy to open and even allows them to be left open at any angle. This eases the flow of traffic through the building, which is especially helpful when carrying or moving equipment around a building and for patients or residents in hospitals and care facilities to maintain their independence.
The Freedor SmartSound has been designed for complete safety and will "fail safe" in the event of a fault or flat battery. The mechanism which removes the closing force on the door requires power to remain active. This means that the Freedor SmartSound will simply not work if there is no power or a fault in the mechanism, ensuring that the fire door will be closed by default in order to block the spread of fire.
Fires occuring while a building is unoccupied will spread unnoticed. To ensure fires are contained it is recommended that all fire doors are closed at night. Freedor SmartSound has a night-time release feature which can be set to any time, making it suitable for any working schedule. After releasing, the Freedor SmartSound will only operate as a normal door closer until the following morning.
