The Doormouse fire door holder from Geofire is a surface mounted electromagnetic door holder/retainer connected to the fire alarm panel. The unit sits on the wall behind a fire door and magnetically holds a steel plate fitted to the fire door. If a fire is detected or the power supply fails the fire door retainer releases the door and allows it to close.
Q. Please confirm what door weight the Doormouse holders are suitable for and what position should they be mounted?
A.
The Doormouse wall mounted fire door holders are suitable for doors weighing 60-120kg and they should be mounted 650mm or more from the hinge.
Q. Do the floor mounted door holders have to be wired to the fire alarm system, or is the release mechanism activated by a loud noise?
A.
The floor mounted fire door holder does have to be wired into the fire alarm panel as when the alarm sounds the magnet inside the unit moves and thereby releases the door. Dorgard is an alternative door closer that does not require wiring into the alarm system and is activated by the sound of the fire alarm.
Q. Can the 230VAC Doormouse door retainer be connected directly to a mains operated smoke alarm or is a panel alarm required?
A.
Yes, the Doormouse can be directly wired to a mains powered alarm. The Ei140 or Ei3000 series alarms are compatible for this though you will need an Ei128R relay base unit to be able to make the connection.
Q. Is the Doormouse unit powered by batteries?
A.
No, the Doormouse range have transformers fitted and do not therefore work with batteries.
Q. Does the Dooremouse wall mounted fire door holder type 87 require hard wiring to an alarm or control box?
A.
Yes, the Doormouse does require hard wiring to the control box or alarm.
