Difference between Semi-Automatic and Automatic External Defibrillators

Automatic External Defibrillators (shortened to 'AED') come in two groups: 1) Semi-Automatic Defibrillators: administers a defibrillating shock at the press of a button. The user is still informed by the AED's visual or acoustic guidance system when the shock should be applied. 2) Automatic Defibrillators: The fully automatic AED administers a defibrillating shock with no shock button for the user to press
What are Defibrillators?

What are Defibrillators?

Defibrillators (often shortened to 'defibs') are life-saving devices which deliver electric shocks to restore the heart beat of someone who had a heart attack or cardiac arrest. The shocks are usually applied through defibrillator pads stuck to the torso of the affected person.

The electric shock stops the heart's uncontrolled quivering in the case of a cardiac arrest or can restart a failed heart rhythm.

Safelincs sells Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) which offer guidance to the user and allow even people with the most basic instruction to use the defibrillators.
