Kitchen fires present unique dangers that standard extinguishers simply can't handle. Kitchen fires are unique in that they often involve cooking oils and fats, which are prone to igniting at high temperatures, making them particularly hazardous and difficult to control. Our kitchen fire extinguisher range offers targeted protection for cooking environments, from domestic kitchens to commercial catering operations. Each unit is specifically designed to tackle the high-temperature oil and grease fires that occur in cooking areas. For domestic kitchens, a water mist fire extinguisher and a fire blanket would be considered satisfactory for most situations. A water mist extinguisher will handle a small deep fat fryer fire like the type found in homes (but not in a commercial setting - that would require a wet chemical extinguisher). Wet chemical extinguishers use advanced chemistry to fight cooking fires. The chemical solution reacts with the hot oil to form a soapy layer, known as saponification, which covers the surface of the burning oil, cutting off the fire's oxygen supply. This process not only extinguishes the flames but also creates a protective barrier that prevents the dangerous re-ignition familiar with oil fires. The cooling effect helps reduce the temperature of the burning oil below its ignition point. Water mist extinguishers offer excellent versatility for domestic kitchens. Water mist can tackle most common fire risks in the home and is dielectrically tested for use on live electrical equipment up to 1000V at a distance of 1m. These units contain only de-ionised water, making them safe around families and pets. They leave no messy residue after use, unlike powder extinguishers which can cause breathing difficulties in confined spaces. The wet chemical fire extinguisher is most commonly found in kitchens and catering environments. With an F rating, the wet chemical fire extinguisher is highly effective at tackling large chip pan fires. For commercial kitchens, you typically need Class F rated extinguishers, explicitly designed for cooking media fires. Domestic kitchens can often use water mist extinguishers with appropriate fire ratings for the space. Standard ABC extinguishers aren't suitable for kitchen environments. Class ABC fire extinguishers are not ideal for commercial kitchens. For commercial kitchens, you need Class F fire extinguishers because the dry chemicals can't sufficiently cool burning cooking oils and the mess from discharging a powder extinguisher in a kitchen would be a nightmare to clean up! Using the wrong extinguisher type can spread the fire or cause dangerous splashing of burning oil. That's why specialised kitchen extinguishers are essential for cooking areas. Fire blankets offer an extra layer of protection against kitchen fires. Fire blankets are impregnated with flame retardant chemicals and are suitable for quick application on small fires, making them perfect for tackling pan fires before they spread. They're handy for wrapping around people whose clothing has caught fire, offering a simple emergency response tool that requires no special training to use effectively. Our kitchen fire extinguisher range includes wet chemical units for commercial applications, water mist extinguishers for domestic use, and fire blankets for comprehensive kitchen protection. Every product comes fully charged and ready for use, with wall brackets included for easy installation. Don't compromise on kitchen safety.
