Fire & Waterproof Safes

Fire and waterproof safes are safes that offer a certain amount fire and water protection for its contents such as, paper, CDs, DVDs, and USBs. Most of fireproof and waterproof safes, but not all of them, offer a certain level of security to allow for individuals to store monies and valuables up to a certain value. It is important to check with your insurance provider before purchasing a safe for the sole purpose of storing cash and / or valuables, as many factors contribute to how much your insurance company will actually insure you for.

Fireproofing

Different fireproof safes have different fire ratings ranging from 30 minutes of protection, up to 120 minutes. Providing a temperature resistance of up to 927°C for paper, CDs, DVDs, USBs, and hard drives in our range of safes. However, it is key to note that safes can vary widely and there are safes on the market that provide higher temperature resistance.

Different materials have a varied range of tolerances when exposed to heat. Although the contents of your safe may not physically ignite until they reach a high temperature. Most materials begin to degrade in some manner well below these levels. This is particularly true of electronic storage media such as USB memory sticks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and older storage formats such as zip drives and DAT tapes, many of which are still in use today. Additional protection is required for the older storage formats due to the material they are made of and their tolerance is considerably lower in comparison to newer electronic storage. Waterproofing

Protecting your valuables from theft and fire is a sensible measure but the risk of damage through exposure to water should also be considered. While the likelihood of your safe coming into contact with a large body of water may not seem high. However, bear in mind that flooding is becoming more common, and in the case of a fire it is highly probable that the Fire & Rescue Services with use a form of water extinguishing agent to douse a fire at your home or business. Their timely intervention combined with the fire rating of your safe, will likely protect your valuable contents from heat damage, but the resulting water damage may make this redundant. However, it is key to note that even if a safe has any waterproofing, and the safe is bolted down to the floor, the water rating would be void.

Combined fireproofing and waterproofing are available on a range of container solutions, from small security boxes for use in the home, up to large capacity safes with higher insurance ratings for monies and / or valuables.

Delivery

By their design, most safes weigh a substantial amount and many can only be moved by mechanical means. Most of our safes come with free delivery to your door but some will be too large and heavy for you to move by hand from there into your premises.

By prior arrangement, we can deliver such safes into your premises to your preferred location for installation. However, please be aware that there may be additional costs based on obstacles such as steps, stairs, lifts, and floor evenness which may be present within the premises.
