Safelincs' fire door inspection service is carried out by an accredited inspector, who will visit your site and survey each door set and all associated fire door accessories such as door closers and hinges. Following the inspection, you will receive a full fire door report detailing any issues that have been found and suggested actions to resolve these issues.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states the Responsible Person for non-domestic buildings must ensure fire doors and frames are correctly installed and maintained so that they can effectively prevent the spread of fire. It can be difficult for those unfamiliar with the standards to determine whether a fire door is suitable, especially for older buildings where fire doors may have no documentation, or have been modified or damaged over time. Having a comprehensive fire door inspection undertaken by a qualified professional gives you peace of mind, and a clear action plan to resolve any fire door issues.

  • Nationwide service carried out by 3rd party certified inspectors

Type 1 Inspection

Type 1 Inspection

For newly installed fire doors

Ideal for checking the compliance of fire doors prior to signing off work in new or refurbished buildings.

  • Inspection creates a snagging list for building contractors prior to sign off on fire door works
  • Avoid incurring remedial costs at a later date to fix fire door issues as a result of non-compliant work from building contractors
  • Visual inspection of all surface elements
  • Invasive inspection of gap filler and intumescent protection
  • Checks if recently installed doors meet all relevant standards
  • Verifies whether installation and fittings meet door manufacturer's specifications

Please note: This inspection will not re-certify your doors – certification has to be done by the original contractor once the issues flagged by this inspection have been rectified.

Type 2 Inspection

Type 2 Inspection

For existing fire doors with little/no evidence of performance

Ideal for buildings with fire doors installed some time ago, often where little or no information exists for the fire doors.

  • Flexible inspection package tailored to the condition of your fire doors and the performance evidence/information available (if any)
  • Assessing suitability of fire door for the location and fire risks as per the requirements of the fire risk assessment and/or fire strategy document

Choose a purely visual inspection, or specify a complete invasive inspection or elements of an invasive inspection for a more in-depth assessment.

Visual type 2 inspection

  • Visual inspection of the door, ironmongery, gaps, seals, glazing and architraves
  • Visual checks for certification stamps or indicators

Invasive type 2 inspection

Invasive inspection elements are flexible but can include:

  • Removing architraves to check for cavities and fillers
  • Checking above a suspended ceiling or below a raised floor to check effectiveness of compartmentation
  • Intumescent protection to ironmongery
  • Ensures a more accurate quote for remedial work can be produced if required
Type 3 Inspection

Type 3 Inspection

Maintenance inspection for recently compliant doors

Ideal for maintaining compliance for fire doors that have been regularly inspected.

  • Ensures compliance is maintained for fire doors that have documentation and have been regularly maintained
  • Inspection of functionality of fire door
  • Ensures compliance with FSO, under articles 17 and 18, that states fire doors should be regularly managed and maintained
