Panic Bars with Latches or Bolts

Panic bars, sometimes referred to as push bars or crash bars, are typically fitted with a bolt or latch and are designed for applications where final exit or fire exit doors are to be used by members of the public that have no prior knowledge of the building or device. These have been specially designed to be used where a panic situation could occur in the event of an emergency. These are very easy to operate and with a single push action on the bar opening the fire exit door. Suitable for a range of door types, panic bars are designed to ensure an easy escape from a building should a quick exit be necessary and can be combined with an outside access device to restrict entry from outside.

Installing Panic Hardware

Installing Panic Hardware

Fitting panic hardware to external doors can be carried out by a competent DIY / maintenance person or a joiner. Installation instructions are provided in the box with every unit, alongside PDF versions available under the technical data tab for each product. The length of panic bar handles can be adjusted to fit the width of the fire exit door. And the length of the shoot bolts can also be cut to length to match the height of the door.
Panic Exit Hardware

Panic Exit Hardware

In premises where members of the public are present, panic hardware must be fitted to fire exit doors, in accordance with BS EN 1125, in the form of push bars with latches or bolts. In an emergency, the push bar (also known as crash bar or panic bar) is pressed, releasing the latch or bolt and allowing people to safely exit from the building. Depending on the configuration of the final exit door, single, rebated or non-rebated double doors will ultimately decide what locking configurations are available for the fire exit equipment. Options are available with a choice of locking points (bolts and latches), with different lockable outside access devices (knobs, levers and code locks) should access from the outside be required.
