So far I haven't had a fire, so I just have to assume it works! One small point is that the package indicates (in one place) that the sensor is photoelectric, but in another that it has dual sensors. Slightly confusing, particularly as I specially wanted dual sensors.

Easy to understand and install. It is very sensitive and has already done it's bit when the heating, microwave, tumble dryer and grill were on. (Our home is more or less open plan and I put the alarm in the most suitable position in the hallway) The noise scared the living daylights out of my cat but that's better than what could happen in the event or a real fire.
