Q. Can you zero the peak level on a Kidde CO detector, and if so how?
A. The best way to make sure the system is definitely zeroed is to press an hold the peak button first. While the peak number is still showing, continue to hold the peak button then press and hold the test and reset button whilst the first button is still held down. This should visibly reset the counter.
If the unit continues to display between 20-30ppm directly after this process, then this could be indicative of a fault. If it shows zero straight away after the reset, then returns to 20-30ppm the next time it is checked, this would indicate a low level of CO being present in the house. At those low levels it would not be immediately harmful, but would definitely warrant investigation as soon as possible.
Q. Is this CO Detector compliant with all relevant standards to allow me to place it in a tenanted property as I am a landlord?
A. Yes, this CO alarm has been Kitemarked to EN 50291-1: 2010 and has been awarded a CE mark. It should be installed in line with the manufacturers guidance.
