Our impregnation sprays protect decorations and fabric against catching fire (e.g. Christmas trees and decorations as well as soft furnishing etc.). This is particularly important in schools, hospitals and areas with vulnerable people.
Please note: The 321 liquid is only suitable for use on porous materials as it needs to be absorbed to protect the material. This means that it will not work on completely waterproof materials such as PVC etc.
3-2-1 Fire Retardant Spray is an odourless, aqueous liquid that deposits a flame-retardant impregnation onto various materials such as canvas, cardboard, carpets, Christmas trees (natural), clothing, dust sheets, polystyrene, polyurethane furniture, tents, upholstery, wallpaper, and some nylon fabrics.
Complies to British Standard BS5438:1989
There are two types of fire retardants that can be applied: Standard, & Special.
3-2-1 Standard is clear and materials treated with it can be dry cleaned.
3-2-1 Special fire retardant liquid is for application on plastic and nylon synthetic flowers and foliage, as used in hotels, reception rooms, restaurants, and other commercial displays.
Paper, theatrical materials, polyurethane foam, carpets, real Christmas trees, Christmas decorations etc.
Plastic & synthetic material plants, foliage, flowers, etc.
This is the technical data for the Envirograf 321 Fire Retardant Spray.
The following technical data sheets are available for this product:
Q. I can see that the standard Fire Retardant Spray is suitable for Christmas trees. Please could you confirm if this refers to artificial or real trees? Thanks
A. The 321 standard fire retardant spray is suitable for use on real Christmas trees. None of the fire retardant sprays are suitable for artificial trees.
Q. Is the 321 spray suitable for use on polystyrene?
A. I am afraid the 321 spray is not suitable for use on polystyrene. This is because the spray can not be absorbed into the material.
Q. Can I use fire retardant spray on PVC?
A. Unfortunately not, because for the fire retardant spray to work it needs to be absorbed in to the material, and PVC is not porous.
Q. Can fire retardant spray be used on items placed outside that are exposed to rain?
A. Yes, but you would need to reapply the spray as it would wear off over time. We also supply a washable version of the fire retardant spray which may be a better option.

Easy to use and covered the fabric I needed to treat for an upholstery project. Practical. The bottle comes with a screw cap and a spray attachment so it's possible to keep the product for future use once it has been opened and used with the spray attachment.
