These alarms are available in two versions.
Replacement detector kit (no electrician required) - An Ei150 / 151 / 151TL ionisation smoke alarm can be easily replaced at the end of its life using anEasichange Ei151EK replacement detector kit. The kit (genuine EI components) allows domestic users to replace their alarm without the assistance of an electrician. Safelincs offers this replacement kit for domestic users as well as the standard unit and base that requires an electrician for installation.
New installation detector and base (for electrician install) - The Ei151TL, also known as the Ei150, Ei151 and Ei151TLH has to be fitted by an electrician and allows existing systems to be extended

Q. My 13 year old Ei151tl smoke alarm is bleeping, even when I remove it from its base. I think it has a sealed battery.
A.
The alarm should chirp for about 5 to 10 minutes and then stop. After that the detector will be dead.
Q. I need to take a chirping Ei150 series smoke alarm off the base to stop the noise. Can I switch the power back on after that or do I have to wait til I received the replacement smoke alarm?
A.
You can switch the power back on straight away after removing the alarm. This does not damage the system.
