3ltr Water fire extinguishers with additive cover class A fires and the use of a foaming additive creates superior fire rating. Ideal for small offices, shops and business premises where the weight of a fire extinguisher is an important consideration. These extinguishers have also passed the 35kV conductivity test which means that they are safe even if accidentally discharged onto live electrical equipment.

Q. Can you tell me why a 6 litre water extinguisher with additive has the same rating as a 9 litre water extinguisher without additive (21A)?
A.
The chemical additives in water additive fire extinguishers lower the surface tension of the water. The lowered surface tension makes the water soak into burning materials quicker and easier, so that they are more effective in tackling the fire. Other chemicals (i.e. soaping agents such as those found in foam fire extinguishers) are usually mixed with these chemicals, lowering the surface tension still further, increasing the cooling and smothering effect and increasing the waters fire-fighting capabilities.
