These updated Kidde Firex smoke and heat alarms are mains powered, interlinking units that use up to 70% less energy than previous Firex models. The alarms are hard-wired and fitted with self-charging lithium back-up batteries. They can be interlinked with other units from the same series to create all round fire protection within the home; when one alarm detects fire and sounds, all interlinked units will sound. Installing the right sensor types in your property gives you the fastest possible response time with the minimum number of false alarms.
Please Note: The Kidde Firex models are replacements for the old Kidde Firex units and the Kidde 9HI and 9HILL ranges and can be interlinked, however the new models cannot be used on the same base plates and use different connector blocks.
The table below shows all the units that can interlink with the KF10R, KF20R and KF30R.

Best 10 year mains / integral lithium battery product for the money.

Good device but poor install design Poor design from the manufacture, requires a plasterboard box cut into the ceiling as the socket with only single insulated wiring is at 90degs to the detector. Why did they not build it like all normal system detectors where the base has screw terminals and the detector just clips onto.

Well designed and easy to replace when necessary. They work well, and the test and alarm buttons are now much improved.
