The Saffold Fold-Out Fire Escape Ladder combines safety, discretion, and reliability, making it a practical emergency escape solution for a wide range of buildings. Manufactured from anodised aluminium, the Saffold emergency escape ladder is strong, durable, and designed to enable up to three people per floor to descend simultaneously for a fast and efficient evacuation. A top locking pin prevents unauthorised use, and when not deployed, the ladder folds neatly away in a slimline profile resembling a drainpipe for discreet installation.

Important Installation Requirement: A minimum 40cm clearance at the bottom is required to ensure the ladder deploys fully and functions correctly.
Should you need to escape from a basement, the Saffold can be used as an access ladder with the release pin fitted at the bottom rather than the top.

Installation
The Saffold fixed fire escape ladder is designed to be installed by a competent person with a general understanding of DIY and the ability to use basic DIY tools. You are supplied with all fixings and also two masonry drill bits
It is important to note that when open, the bottom rung of the ladder should be approximately 55cm from the ground, this will ensure that the last rung is not too high to step off. The side ‘arm’ of the ladder must not touch the ground when fully open. This is to ensure that the opening of the ladder does not get obstructed by small stones or similar debris.
How It Works
In an emergency the slimline, unobtrusive drainpipe like profile of the Saffold Fire Escape Ladder is transformed into an emergency escape ladder by simply removing the anti-tamper locking pin. These locking pins are designed for quick release in emergency situations but are also designed to prevent unauthorised access from ground level.
Deploying the Ladder
To deploy your Saffold fire escape ladder simply remove the anti-tamper pin or unlock the ladder using the optional key lock. The ladder will open up away from the wall, allowing the rungs to latch into place, forming a sturdy, fixed escape ladder.
To aid access from above, from a roof for example, the optional pull-out extension handle will give users confidence and extra support to assist with their safety before and during descent of the ladder.
