Ideal for installing in common living areas, the Kidde 10Y29 optical smoke alarm features a 10 year sealed lithium battery designed to provide continuous protection for 10 years without needing replacement. The 10Y29 also features a combined test / hush button which can be used to silence any false alarms, and perform a 'low volume' test, making testing your alarm easy.

It is neat and was easy to install. It is a replacement for a similar device of the same make (Kidde). My only concern is that the previous device was very sensitive and would go off if, say, the toast burnt. This one does not respond and yet it is positioned in the same place.
