The Ei141 is a mains powered smoke alarm with alkaline back-up battery. As all Ei141 alarms use older ionisation smoke detection technology, they are now being discontinued. If you need to replace an Ei141, the Ei146e which uses optical smoke detection is 100% compatible with your existing base plate and alarm system. This means you don't need to spend a penny on an electrician or worry about the disruption of rewiring works.

The new alarm can interlink with any other Ei140/140RC series alarms remaining in your system, along with many other Ei Electronics / Aico models. The more modern optical sensor technology in the Ei146e is less susceptible to false alarms, making it suitable for use in a wider range of locations such as rooms adjacent to kitchens, hallways, landings, bedrooms, and living areas.

The simple installation process of the Ei146e replacement alarm eliminates the need for an electrician. However, power to all alarm circuits should be cut before removing and replacing any mains powered alarm.
