Summary of this standard

The BS EN 3-8:2006 specifies the rules of design, type testing, fabrication and inspection control of portable fire extinguishers. It is specific to extinguishers manufactured with metallic bodies as far as pressure risk is concerned.

 

Part 8 of BS EN 3 applies to portable fire extinguishers with a maximum allowable pressure lower than 30 bar which contain non-explosive, non-flammable, non-toxic and non-oxidising fluids.

 

Please note: this standard does NOT apply to carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.
