Agrippa Door Closer Provides Solution for Printing Company

Agrippa Free Swing Door CloserWhen East Coast Grafix, a printing company based in Lincolnshire, were replacing some of their fire doors they saw the ideal opportunity to look at how they could improve the movement of their staff within the building.

The main problem the company faced was passing through fire doors when carrying stock from one work area to another. The pull of the normal fire door closers made it difficult to move around the premises. Safelincs’ Agrippa Acoustic Free-Swing door closer gave East Coast Grafix the solution they were looking for. Chris Ashmore from East Coast Grafix said “This product is brilliant.” He went on to say “This is ideal for us as when carrying stacks of paper, the last thing you want is to have to open a spring loaded door and then it trying to close on you.” Staff at East Coast Grafix can now leave the door open at any angle, the fire door now feels and behaves like any other door.

The Agrippa not only gave Chris Ashmore a solution to his problem, it also ensures that he is meeting his legal obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The Agrippa is a battery operated unit that can learn the specific sound of your fire alarm. When there is no alarm the door closer is dormant, causing no resistance to the user. On hearing your fire alarm the closer will activate, automatically closing the fire door, reducing the risk of a fire spreading and protecting the lives of the occupants and the premises. Agrippa Free-Swing door closers are CE Marked and approved to EN 1155 and EN 1154, they are also suitable for installations needing to comply with BS 7BS 7273-4.

Consistent Emergency Lighting and General Lighting Design for Suspended Ceilings

Arrian Emergency LightSuspended ceilings offer sleek designs and cover unsightly facilities, however, they also make the placement of traditional emergency lighting difficult, especially when trying to maintain the clean flow of the ceiling. The very best solution is to have lighting panels and emergency lights in the same design and size, offering the same light output in normal operation.

Safelincs can offer Arrian, a new LED Suspended Ceiling Emergency Lighting Panel system. This product range consists of regular and emergency lighting panels that look identical and have the same 3800 lumen output in maintained non-emergency operation. This allows you to install matching lights in all of your suspended ceilings, using emergency fittings where necessary and regular light fittings elsewhere. The panels measure 595x595mm, fitting into standard suspended ceiling apertures.

The white, powder coated finish on the Arrian emergency light panels gives an attractive, neutral look that works well with any suspended ceiling. The emergency lights are available with a choice of either 270, 360 or 450 lumen output in emergency mode allowing you to choose the appropriate emergency light level to meet your specific needs.

These units are manufactured using high quality 4000K ‘cool white’ LEDs which have a lifecycle of over 36,000 hours, meaning these fittings offer an exceptional lifespan as well as being naturally energy efficient. They can also be installed as either a maintained or non-maintained fitting, providing further flexibility and value. There is even a version designed to work with slave lighting systems with a range of input voltages to meet your needs.

The quality of light emitted by the panels is also exceptional, with a CRI (Colour Rendering Index- the industry measurement for light quality) rating of 80+. This, together with the panel’s 3800 lumen output, ensures the light quality given out by these fittings is amongst the very best available.

With all of these benefits, plus the peace of mind given by Safelincs’ exclusive 5 year warranty, the LED Suspended Ceiling Emergency Lighting Panel system from Arrian has quickly become a popular choice for anyone looking for smart and economical lighting for modern offices.

The New Dorgard SmartSound Fire Door Retainer

Dorgard SmartSound Fire Door RetainerSafelincs are pleased to announce the addition of the new Dorgard SmartSound from Fireco to our product range. Building on the success of the game-changing original Dorgard fire door retainer, the new Dorgard SmartSound offers all the benefits of the original, plus some new premium features.

The main upgrade included in the Dorgard SmartSound is the SmartSound system, which allows this version to differentiate between the sound of your fire alarm and other background noises. This makes the Dorgard SmartSound particularly suitable for premises with high levels of background noise, such as schools and nurseries.

However, this isn’t the only innovation to be found, the new generation also boasts a three year battery lifespan. This minimises maintenance of this important fire safety device, used to hold open fire doors legally. The plunger system has also been upgraded to include ‘anti-drag’ technology. This helps protect your floor from wear by automatically retracting the plunger if the door is pulled closed without your Dorgard having been released.

The original Dorgard is, of course, still available, however, if you are looking for a fire door retainer solution in a noisy environment, then the Dorgard SmartSound is the product for you.

Visit our pages if you’d like more details or to order your new Dorgard SmartSound, or alternatively contact one of our trained advisors on 0800 612 6537 or via support@safelincs.co.uk.
