Alarms are available with alkaline or lithium battery backup options. Mains powered alarm systems comply with Grade D, E and F of BS 5839-6:2004 as required by building regs.

New Build houses or houses that have had material alterations carried out, such as extensions, must be equipped with mains-powered interlinked smoke detectors. These detectors can be linked to one another through either hard-wired cables or Radio Frequency (wireless) to the rest of the alarms in the system.
