Q.Can I replace an Ei141 alarm with an Ei146 using the Easychange head kit, leaving the base plate in place?
A.With the Easichange kits you can interchange the heads with the existing bases as all the bases in that series are the same. Using the tool that comes with the Easichange kit makes taking the old head off and putting the new head on quick and easy without the need for an electrician.
Q.Can the sensitivity of the Ei141(ionisation alarm) be altered as it keeps going off when I am cooking?
A.The Ei141(ionisation alarm)is the wrong alarm to be located in the kitchen area. We would recommend a heat alarm for kitchen area. The Ei144 heat alarm gives a fire warning when the temperature at the unit reaches 58°C. Heat alarms are ideal for use in kitchens and garages, where the use of optical or ionisation alarms would lead to unwanted nuisance alarms.
Q.Why is my Mains Powered Ionisation Alarm with Hush Button Ei141 beeping? I have replaced the batteries.
A.Check on the side of the alarm and look for the manufacture date and 'replace by' date to see if the alarm requires replacing. Otherwise try cleaning the alarm around the vents with a vacuum nozzle.
Q.How long do the batteries last in smoke alarms?
A.The 9V alkaline batteries last 12~18 months. This period also depends from how often the alarms are tested.
Q.Can I link a CO detector with a Ei140 smoke alarm?
A.Yes, we recommend the Ei261EN. You should also install a Ei159 locator to allow you to find out if the alarm was triggered by CO gas or by fire.
