Rigid Design
The X-IT ladder is probably the safest portable fire escape ladder in the world. Its semi-rigid design of inter-locking sections stops the ladder from swaying and swinging. The steel rungs have stand-offs that keep the feet safely off the wall. The ladder is made in the UK from zinc-plated steel and is independently tested  to withstand a distributed load of 450kg (1000 lbs)
 
Adjustable hooks                                        
The adjustable hooks fit over most walls and can even be used if there is a radiator on the inside of the wall. The strong hooks also offer a good handhold.
The ladder is suitable for walls from 9 inches (23cm) up to 20 inches (51cm) thickness. Please note that the hooks have to be assembled on receipt of the ladder.
 
The width of the rungs and frame is 12 inches (30 cm)
 
Adjustable in two directions
In an emergency lift the ladder out of the box, place it over the wall and pull the release toggle, the ladder will then automatically unfold and the sections will inter-lock.

Please note: Once released the ladder becomes a rigid unit and is best re-packed by laying it flat on the floor at full length. This can be difficult for the longer lengths. We therefore recommend that you do NOT practise the deployment and the escape with this ladder! You should, however, practise the application of the hooks over the wall to get used to the handling of the ladder.

Q.Can any sections of the X-IT ladder that are removed be easily attached before use for a different widow?

A.No, we would not recommend that you try to re-attach sections of the X-IT ladder in an emergency.

Q.Will the X-IT fire escape ladder still deploy if the length of drop from the window to the ground is less than the ladder length?

A.Yes, you can shorten the ladder when you receive it. This will ensure that in an emergency the ladder will stretch out perfectly.

Q.What is the minimum thickness of wall that the X-It ladder can be used with?

A.The minimum wall thickness is 9 inches. Please ensure that the wall construction is suitable to take the weight of a person climbing down the ladder.
