Q.Can a FD30 fire door be fitted with only one self closing hinge and two normal hinges?
A.It is generally recommended to have two self-closing hinges per door (top and bottom). The middle one does not have to be self-closing.
Q.When replacing existing hinges which are larger than Safelincs' self-closing hinges, does the fire door or frame need to be altered?
A.You will not need to alter your fire door (as the wings should fit in to the existing hinge gaps), however, a part of the hinge gap will be exposed. You should install intumescent strips on the exposed part of the hinge gap.
