ABC powder fire extinguishers (also called dry powder fire extinguishers), are suitable to fight class A, B and C fire risks. That covers burning solids, liquid fires and gas fires. They are very broad acting and are therefore used in engineering workshops, cars, boats and sometimes in homes. It is important that customers are aware that whilst powder extinguishers are very powerful, they also have downsides. The powder is very fine and will spread everywhere when the powder fire extinguisher is discharged. Soft furnishing in contact with the powder is very hard to clean and there is a risk of inhalation, especially in small rooms.
