Q.Can this be placed in my airing cupboard, provided I ensure there is air circulation around it? I want to check if there are any emissions from my central heating/hot water boiler.

A.CO alarms should normally be placed in the room rather than in the airing cupboard. However, if you are only concerned about the CO content in the airing cupboard you can place the alarm in there. If there are shortterm emissions during the start up of the boiler you might of course get some nuisance alarms but I guess that you are happy to accept these since you are trying to detect any sources of carbon monoxide.

Q.Is there a recommended carbon monoxide detector for use in a small kitchen which has a gas boiler and gas hob?

A.We would recommend a battery operated CO alarm, ideally with a digital display. Eg a small. slim unit like the Kidde slimline CO alarm. http://www.safelincs.co.uk/Slim-line-Digital-CO-alarm-900-0230-Kidde/?fdb=true

The Green intermittently flashing light is very hard to see even in good light conditions. I think Kidde could improve this. My mom is 83 (it was bought for her) and she likes the reassurance of knowing the product is functioning as it should but she finds it quite difficult to see the green light (so do I by the way and my eye sight's excellent!)
