Passive Fire Protection

Passive fire protection (PFP) is an integral component of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP attempts to contain fires or slow their spread, through use of fire resistant walls, floors, doors and other materials. Every service which is installed into a building, water pipes, electrical sockets, cable trunking etc, has an impact on its fire resistance. There are however a wide range of products and systems available which if correctly specified and installed will re-instate the fire resistance lost by installing these services and help contain the fire for a required period of time.

We recommend that passive fire products are specified and installed by proffessionals. Napfis (The Nationwide Association of Passive Fire Installers and Specifiers) have a list of certified specifiers and installers which can be found on the Napfis website.
