The FireRay 2000 system is comprised of an infrared transmitter which projects a modulated infrared beam across a large span to a receiver unit. If the area is contaminated by smoke for a pre determined period of time the beam will either be received with reduced power or will fail to reach the receiver, triggering the alarm.
