Sash windows are a common feature of listed and traditional buildings. Whilst in keeping with the style of traditional buildings, ordinary sash windows are very hard to escape through, as the maximum escape area is only one half of the window. Our Sashment timber sash escape window allows you to have a traditional looking sash window with all the typical sash functionalities, but it will open up completely to reveal the full opening to escape through in case of fire. Another positive side effect is that as the window can be opened into the room, the outside panes can be easily cleaned from inside the building which is often a real problem with sash windows.

Window Dimensions
It is crucial that the measurements requested are added correctly. The Configuration Tool clearly states which measurement to take and assigns that measurement a reference letter. The wizard then calculates the size of the window and offers specific options for it. All prices quoted are based on the details and measurements that you provide.Window Material
There are two different varieties of wood available to use for manufacturing the windows; European redwood and European hardwood. Both are supplied by a timber merchant that holds custody certification for FSC and PEFC for the supply of timber and materials. When purchased as fully finished units, having had Sikkens wood treatment, the windows have a guarantee of 10 years for softwood and 15 years for hardwood versions.
If your wall opening is arched (and if this is a requirement of the window design) it is essential that the "Arched Window" field (Measurement E) is correctly filled in on the Window Configurator. Custom horn detail can be requested at the customers discretion for no additional charge. If a specific horn design is required then you should call 0800 6122946.
Glazing Bar Configuration
Windows can be ordered with various glazing bar configurations, including; one over one, two over two, three over three, four over four, six over six and eight over eight styles. Window styles with bar configurations of two over two or more, can be ordered with fixed or applied bars.
