Q.How do you know that the Dorgard has detected smoke or a fire? Does it make a noise when it is closing the door? what can you do to stop the door from closing if it is a false alarm?
A.Once the alarm has sounded its integral audio-electronic device signals the plunger to retract and releases the door to close. Please note that your alarm's sound level has to be higher than 65dB at the location of the door. When the Dorgard is ready to release the door, a warning tone will be sounded.
Q.What are the fail safe features of this device?
A.The Dorgard detects if the batteries fall below a certain charge and releases the plunger if the voltage is too low. This prevents the Dorgard not releasing the firedoor in case of a fire.
When removing the battery, the unit automatically releases the plunger and you cannot hold the door open until you have replaced the batteries.
Low voltage and other functional faults also lead to release and warning sounds/LED displays. For more technical details on the Dorgard, see http://www.safelincs.co.uk/tech/dorgard.pdf
Q.Can the Dorgard be used for double door applications? I have rebated doors that need to close in a sequential order.
A.Dorgard can be used on double door applications and although the unit itself cannot guarantee the order of which your fire doors will be closed, they can be used in conjunction with door closers that have adjustable closing speed. The door closer fitted to the active leaf would have a slower closing speed than the one fitted to the inactive leaf, allowing the fire doors to close in the correct sequence. To view a range of compatible door closers please see our Door Closer Technical Overview.
Q.We ordered 3 dorgard fire door retainers (fcdg01br), as it was mentioned that they come with a 5 years warranty, on your website. on receipt of the dorgards, it nowhere mentions about the warranty. could you please advice
A.Safelincs is the only Dorgard retailer who offers a 5 year warranty on the Dorgard. This warranty is not described in the generic manual etc of the product, which refers only to the standard manufacturer warranty of one year. Safelincs covers the additional warranty of the Dorgard themselves. Our statement on the website is proof of our warranty. You can print out our Dorgard pages if you want to have proof of the 5 year warranty in the future
