Battery Smoke Alarms

Battery operated smoke alarms or 9V smoke alarms are the entry level to fire detection. Within the battery operated range there is a gradual improvement to smoke alarms with cable interlink and even radio-interlink. Interlinking smoke alarms has the advantage that if one alarm detects a fire, all other smoke alarms get notified as well and will sound. This is particularly important if the bedrooms are far removed from eg the kitchen. The smoke alarms are further divided into ionisation, optical and heat alarms. Ionisation alarms are suitable for landings. Optical smoke alarms for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways, while heat alarms are installed in the kitchen and garage. Longlife battery smoke alarms have usually a sealed ten year lithium battery which powder the alarm for the full ten year lifespan.
