I have been using these products with alkaline batteries for ten years and have found them reliable. I've not had a fire but they do detect burnt toast! I live in a timber frame house and the master bedroom is over the garage so the interlinking facility is important. If I'm in bed I want to be sure to know if an alarm goes off anywhere in the house. This time I've gone for the 10 year lithium option, the overall cost is much the same but there is no need to worry about batteries.
